3 Smart Things to do by End of Day

How you handle your end of day can make a big difference in your
overall performance. Unfortunately, many people start wrapping up their
work activities about 30 minutes before quitting time. During that
time, they are chatting with coworkers, surfing the web, or doing
something else to creatively kill time.

The highly-productive employees in your organization take a different
approach. Instead of wasting valuable time, they make sure the day's
work was done right, and they start preparing for tomorrow's
requirements. A half-hour can make a big difference in your
productivity, but you must have a plan.

Here are three smart things you can do at the end of each day to become
a top performer:

#1: Review your priority list for the day to determine what was
completed, and what is left to do.

The most successful people in your company are constantly focused on
performance metrics. By knowing the progress on key deliverables, they
can determine what corrective action to take when necessary. If a
resource is needed, an email or phone call today can line up that
person for the work needed.

If you need assistance from your manager, make sure to stop by her
desk. It's imperative that you assume control, and avoid the "wait
until tomorrow" attitude. You must be proactive, and understand that no
one will come to your rescue when you're running out of time.

#2: Respond to the important emails or phone calls.

If you promised a status update, make sure you provide it. Top
performers are reliable, and they follow-through. It's unprofessional
to think that the other person can wait for your reply. If you agree on
a deadline, make sure to meet it. Bottom line!

When going through your email, determine who needs a response today,
and craft a message that provides the necessary information. You should
avoid the following: "I was so busy today, but will get back with you
tomorrow." If you can get away with this response, there was no reason
for you to make it a high priority.

#3: Review your tasks for the next work day, and prioritize what will
get done first.

The most successful people in your organization are 100% clear on what
they have to do. The next day, you might have only one item that must
get done by close of business. If that is the case, create a small
project plan, and determine what it will take for you to complete it.

Imagine if you could complete five small projects per week, one each
day. The point here is that you stay focused on the important work.
Before leaving for the day, make sure you have the resources assigned,
funding available, approvals required, and so on. By initiating the
planning process, you hit the ground running when you arrive to work.

Your workday should not come to a screeching halt. It's imperative that
you leave at least a half-hour to review your performance, and to plan
for the next day. In some cases, you will need to work a little
overtime, but that extra effort will make a positive difference in your
performance.

To become an excellent employee, you must take a different approach,
which means that you can no longer leave your desk without knowing what
tomorrow holds. Top-notch employees will consistently hit their
targets, and that's because they took an active role in creating the
game plan.

Breaking Through Plateau's With Training - Part II

You've stopped losing fat.

Weight loss plateaus are very common, and very frustrating. Usually,
when people first begin to exercise they see quick results towards
their weight loss goals. But, unfortunately, after several weeks the
weight loss slows or completely stops, keeping them from reaching their
target weight. In this article, I'll explain a few ways you can adjust
your training to reignite your fat burning furnace.

Look at the type of cardio training you're doing.

If you only perform moderate-intensity cardio, you may be missing out
on a more effective type of cardiovascular activity. High intensity
interval training (or HIIT) is a method of exercise characterized by
short bouts of intense exertion, followed by a period of less intense
exercise or complete rest. This type of training has many advantages
over steady-state, moderate cardio. First and foremost, it takes up
less of your most valuable asset--time! Who doesn't want better
results in less time?

Working with HIIT has been proven to be the most effective way to burn
fat. Let me explain.

The body first uses glycogen stored in muscles for energy; after one's
glycogen stores are depleted, the body turns to fat for fuel. With
moderate intensity cardio, it takes the average person around thirty
minutes to burn through their glycogen stores. So, after a 40-minute,
moderate-intensity run on a treadmill, only ten of those minutes were
spent burning fat! However, high intensity exercise depletes one's
muscles glycogen stores faster than long, moderate-intensity exercise;
therefore, HIIT is more effective for targeting fat for energy. It's
this aspect of HIIT that makes it more efficient and effective than
steady-state cardio.

If you can't perform HIIT, I advise you to do your moderate-intensity
cardio after weight lifting sessions; the principal is the same as HIIT
training. Intense weight lifting quickly depletes your body's stored
glycogen, causing the body to use fat for energy if you perform cardio
shortly afterwards.

If you aren't lifting weights, start.

Some people are unaware of the positive effects of weight lifting for
weight loss. Because weight lifting helps to preserve muscle mass
while losing weight, it's a highly effective type of training to use
when you're looking to get lean. If you're afraid of getting that
bulked-up look, don't worry. As long as you're consuming fewer
calories than you're burning, you aren't going to bulk up--what you
will do is preserve the muscle mass you have while you burn off the fat
that's hiding it.

Weight lifting promotes a higher lean-to-fat ratio in your body. A
higher lean-to-fat ratio results in a faster metabolic rate, which is
the rate at which your body burns calories. This is because pound for
pound, muscle tissue expends more energy than fat tissue. The
increased calorie burn, compounded throughout the day, allows weight
control to become easier and more effective.

If you've stopped seeing results from your weight loss plan, try
implementing these variations in your training. If you have any
questions or observations, feel free to leave a comment below, and look

3 Strategies that Make You a Productive Meeting Manager

For many of us, it's one meeting after another. We can't seem to get
away from them. In many cases, a meeting is even unnecessary, but they
are now known as "standing," which means we keep having them, even when
it's difficult to find topics to discuss.

It's surprising that we have so many meetings, given that most people
complain about them, even the person hosting them. Some meetings are
held to report on the status of one's work. Isn't there a more
efficient approach to collecting this information? If all we're doing
is sharing what we've done, couldn't it be done via SharePoint? Why do
we have to physically meet?

Here are three strategies that can make you a productive meeting
manager:

#1: Invite only the meaningful participants.

You must do your homework to determine who should attend your meeting.
For example, if you are looking to re-brand a product, you will invite
marketing, sales, finance, logistics, and so on. Who should attend the
meetings from these departments? If you need to make critical
decisions, make sure you invite managers, or the decision-makers.

There are cases where you can meet with stakeholders in one-on-one
sessions. By doing so, you can collect information from these
individuals. If you have the knowledge needed, it's not necessary for
them to attend the meeting. In fact, you might be able to gather all
the needed information with the individual meetings, which means that a
face-to-face session is unnecessary.

#2: Make sure to stick with the meeting time.

Meeting-goers become upset and frustrated when the meeting fails to
start on time, and especially when it goes longer than anticipated. In
fact, some attendees will leave a meeting that goes longer than stated
in the invite. To keep meetings on schedule, make sure that you follow
the agenda, and it's recommended that you begin with the most critical
items first.

An excellent meeting manager will ensure that everyone stays on point.
You can get people back on task by using the following:

· "John, that is a good point. However, we need to make sure we
discuss the market demographics to determine the ideal price point for
our detergent."

· "Martina, I understand you are concerned about the lack of
resources for this initiative. However, from our standpoint, we need to
determine if we have the right information system for our supply
chain."

#3: Assign action points to the right person.

A meeting should have action points. In other words, the right
individual or team must walk away with clear expectations.

For example:

· "Rita, please create a flowchart that describes the most
efficient approach we can use to roll out the 200 workstations."

· "Alex, can we count on having the updates to the marketing plan
by Friday EOB?"

The success or failure of meetings largely depends on the person who is
running it. I find that people respect those meeting managers who
develop an agenda and stick to it. To have a productive meeting, it's
important that only meaningful participants attend. A meeting is
successful when the topics are discussed, and the action items are
assigned to the right people.

Find other ZORGIUM pages using AZ.COM:

The zorgium specific results appear in the right hand margin.

Find other ZORGIUM pages using your favorite search engine:

Enter your search keyword(s) and the keyword "zorgium" into the search input field of http://bing.com, http://yahoo.com or http://google.com.

Heads up: There's an ongoing spamdexing of Google searchbot algorithms. Sites that are 'copies of copies' and cloaked sites which include Zorgium keywords presented to search engine crawlers yet garbage content presented to human visitors were hosted on thousands of IP addresses and domains registered immediately after the introduction of Zorgium in November of 2009. The Hostgator/'The Planet'/Softlayer datacenters in Texas seem to be the epicenter of this activity in conjunction with anonymously registered domains of various TLD's but primarily .info domains at Godaddy which, in our opinion, has some sort of connection to the domains of goldmint.in and goldmint.org. Google has begun to notice this and has begun to lower the ranking of these sites and put our original sites back on top of the search rankings. These actions, as far as we can tell, negatively impact the use of the keyword 'zorgium' as a search term and provided little benefit, if any, to the perpetrators.

ZORGIUM note to content providers: If you don't want your page to appear in Zorgium's search abstraction then put an exclusion for "Zorgium" in your web server's robots.txt file.
